Introduction

Perched high on the mountainside opposite Mt. Fan Si Pan, Sapa is a fascinating place. The views are stunning. However, the main attraction is the many colourfully dressed ethnic people and their different traditions.Some, like the H'mong, are jolly and outgoing, others like the Red Dao, are quieter and more reserved. The clothes are works of art - look out for the unusual rough linen material dyed with indigo that gives the Black H'mong their name.

    NIGHT   : HANOI - LAO CAI 

    PM   20.00 pm - Depart ETV Office at 57Luong Ngoc Quyen by private coach to Ha Noi Railway Station to catch the night train (soft sleeper with air conditioning) to Lao Cai.    

    DAY   1  : LAO CAI - SAPA - BAN HO     

    AM   05.30am - Arrive in Lao Cai. The bus ride uphill to Sa Pa takes a little over an hour, giving you a glimpse of the stunning vistas and impressive rice terraces.
    After breakfast, meet with our local guide then hike down along local trails and across rice terraces to visit Black H'mong and Dzay ethnic minority communites.
    The trekking route offers some challenge as you balance on the rice terraces and a small trail on the steep mountainside. The vegetation is dense as the trail leads up to a peaceful village perched on the Hoang Lien mountainside. Head downhill and relax by a local stream for a picnic lunch.    
             
    PM    In the afternoon, car transfer uphill before descending down to the quaint Tay hill tribe village of Ban Ho. for an insightful night with your Tay hosts, where you'll sleep in the cosy loft complete with comfy mattress and a mosquito net.     L,D

    DAY   2  : BAN HO - SAPA - LAO CAI     

    AM   After breakfast, you will start the day with an easy trek on dirt paths. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the valley with its traditional stilt houses and rice terraces. Make your way along a stream to cross a hanging bridge before arriving in Nam Toong Village

    After a picnic lunch, walk back to the meeting point where our driver is waiting to take you back to Sa Pa  
       
    PM   Enjoy an afternoon to explore Sa Pa town, great shopping in the market for local produce and you can buy handicrafts from many of the local hill tribes selling their wares there.

    18.00 - Bus departs from Sa Pa to Lao Cai

    20.20pm - Night train back to Ha Noi (soft sleeper with air conditioning).
       
     DAY 3  HANOI arrival     

    AM   5.00am - Trip ends at Ha Noi Railway Station.
